Largest gathering of Biomass Experts

Sad news for all of us: Jürgen Schmid passed away



We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Schmid, director of Fraunhofer IWES for 14 years until 2012, awarded with the Goethe Badge of Honor, the highest award of the Ministry of Arts & Science of Hesse, and recipient of the Fraunhofer-Medaille the highest award of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, who unexpectedly passed away on 6th of May 2013.

Prof. Dr. Schmid, pioneer and leading expert in the field of renewable energies, was chairman of the 16th European Biomass Conference & Exhibition in Valencia, Spain in 2008.

We will never forget him and all he did as a member of the global biomass community.

Jürgen, you will always be in our hearts!

On Friday 24th May there will be an official commemoration in Kassel.
