Press Release 22 February 2010
The concluding Conference to highlight the results of the French Biomass Project REGIX will take place at the 18th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition in Lyon
22 February 2010 - The summarizing and final conference of the French project REGIX (Unified references, methods and experiments to enable improved evaluation of potential agricultural and forestry lignocellulosic resources for bioenergy in France) will take place in Lyon, France, on the occasion of the 18th European Biomass Conference (3-7 May 2010) and Exhibition (3-6 May 2010).
On May 4, 2010, representatives from the French biomass industry will meet and address crucial questions on biomass resources: availability and costs of the agricultural, forest and biomass residues, technical performances, environmental impacts, quality, and supply chain.
The REGIX project is based on a unified agricultural and forestry approach and aims to ensure that economic actors will have the tools, methods and high quality reference data they need to develop this industry. Nine partners of the REGIX programme, that are GIE ARVALIS/ONIDOL, INRA, FCBA, UCFF, ONF, EDF, CRA Centre, FRCA Picardie and APESA, will present the main results of the project to the biomass community.
The commitment of the French biomass industry and the vital exchange of ideas and opinions during the 18th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition underlines the importance of biomass in the further development of renewable energies.
The REGIX conference will take place on May 4, 2010, and will be held in French. For further information, please contact: Xavier Gautier x.gautier@arvalisinstitutduvegetal.fr
Background REGIX:
The REGIX project was set up in 2005. It is funded in the context of the ANR French Research Agency National Bioenergy Research Programme and is supported by ADEME, the French Environment and Energy Management Agency. The goal is to adopt, within a single portal for forestry and agriculture, a unified approach to the knowledge, methods and techniques concerning lignocellulosic resources for the biofuels industry.
Event Background
For 30 years now, the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (European BC&E) has combined a very renowned international Scientific Conference with an Industry Exhibition. Since 2007 the Conference and Exhibition takes place every year. The European BC&E is held at different venues throughout Europe and ranks as the world's leading event in the biomass sector.
This year's European BC&E will be held in Lyon, France. The Conference is expected to attract about 1,500 participants from more than 70 countries. It is supported by the European Commission, by ADEME - the French Environment and Energy Management Agency, UNESCO - United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization Natural Sciences Sector, WCRE - the World Council for Renewable Energy, and EUBIA - the European Biomass Industry Association.
