World Forum on ‘Fuel, Food and the Environment: The Bioenergy Challenge’

3 April 2012 - The 20th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition will take place in Milan, Italy, from 18 to 22 June 2012. This annual event constitutes one of the world’s leading science-to-science, business-to-business and science-to-industry fora for the biomass sector.

One of the highlights of the 2012 Conference Opening on Monday, 18 June, will be  the launch of the first World Forum on “Fuel, Food and the Environment: The Bioenergy Challenge”.

How can policy makers guide Europe towards a sustainable bioenergy solution?

Main purpose of the World Forum is to stimulate open discussion from all stakeholders on the future of bioenergy and biofuels, and specifically, how policy makers can steer a sustainable course through the many complex issues within the biofuel debate.

885 Research and Industry Contributions from  61 countries received for the 20th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition
(EU BC&E)

  • 'Sustainable Bioenergy' one of the Programme’s Key Topics

EU BC&E reports an extremely high number of research and industry abstracts received for the 20th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (20th EU BC&E), taking place from 18-22 June 2012 (Conference 18-22 June 2012 - Exhibition 18-21 June 2012) in Milano, Italy.

The greater share of the submitted 885 abstracts (31%) was received for the topic on Biomass Conversion Technologies. Biomass Resources made up 25% of abstracts and 18% were submitted for Biofuels Production and Supply, of which more than one third represents the production of 2nd generation bioethanol. The topics Biomass Industrial Initiatives and Biomass Policies accounted for a total of 26% of the abstracts, where the greater share of submitted abstracts for Sustainability Assessment and Criteria confirms the predominant interest for the UN Resolution that proclaims the year 2012  the “International Year of Sustainable Energy for All”.

25 October 2011 - In 2012 the 20th European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (20th EU BC&E) will take place downtown in Milan, Italy: the Conference from 18 to 22 June and the Exhibition from 18 to 21 June. Dr. Krautkremer is supported by the Technical Programme Coordination group composed of Dr. Heinz Ossenbrink, Dr. David Baxter and Dr. Jean-François Dallemand, Joint Research Centre (JRC), Institute for Energy and Transport, European Commission. The International Scientific Committee, composed of more than 140 experts from the global scientific community contributes to set-up the EU BC&E Conference programme to the highest scientific standards.
